The New York - Toronto Amtrak Maple Leaf arrives in St. Catharines at sunset in early March of 2010. Notice the crew was very friendly on departure by giving short toots of the horn and activiting the ditchlights to alter. Everything was normal as usual up until the train reached the 3rd Street signals and the conductor called the RTC to make an emergency test and make a notification that there was a guy taking pictures of the train on top of the north track signal. The thing is that is very dangerous and illegal. If the guy ever fell off he could recieve serious injuries and possibly be killed. Especially if it was into the trains path. Not sure what happened but hopefully the guy was caught for doing such a dumb thing. Saturday, March 6th, 2010

Mar 8, 2010 - Thanks! For sure. Im glad the conductor reported him. It was very dangerous and illegal what he did. If he wants to take pictures of the horn he can do it on a bridge. He can also get a shot pretty much exactly like that on the side of a hill. Like the one right at the St. Catharines station.

Mar 8, 2010 - Nice timing! Why does it black out in the end for 30 seconds?
RailfanDaniel Says:
Mar 8, 2010 - Thanks! Uh... I've been having those problems lately. I will ensure my next video won't have that problem.

Mar 9, 2010 - Female conductor?

Mar 9, 2010 - Great video. Nice radio chatter. Never heard of anyone climbing the signal tower before. Not too smart. Wouldn't take much to get knocked off there.

Mar 15, 2010 - man oh man. certainly heard Daniel's sigh of disgust on the video followed by mine here at home. I wish people would stop taking these unnecessary risks to get the "perfect" shot. because what's one picture worth compared to your life and it just makes everybody (train crews to railway police) all edgy and suspicious. If everybody could just practice this great hobby legally (trespassing ect.) it would make the hobby just that much better David, Vancouver

Apr 22, 2010 - Nice video, Daniel. Could you tell me what frequency you are listening on? I live by the Whirlpool Bridge, so it ought to work here, too. I suppose I could walk up to the end of the bridge and look for an AAR sign, but Customs can be so unreasonable these days! Thanks.

Apr 25, 2010 - Nice video. Love the horn. Thing about Amtrak locos is, the ditchlights activate automatically when the horn is sounded.
RailfanDaniel Says:
Apr 27, 2010 - @MarkConductor775 Thanks! Its too bad some Amtrak P42DC's are getting the new third generation K5LA's which sound like crap. The E-bell was a bad replacement too. Although, your right at least they have ditch-lights left. Really cool.

May 15, 2010 - It appears the guy is beside the upper signal head on the south approach signals, not the north one.
RailfanDaniel Says:
May 15, 2010 - @nf1002 Oh yeah you can see him, what an idiot. Thanks for the info, i'll change it immediately.
RailfanDaniel Says:
May 15, 2010 - @nf1002 Wait... Actually that's the signal behind the one on the south track. Its a two way signal set. It's noy a person. On the north track signal, i looked very carefully and he was right beside the north track signal light standing on the ladder. What a stupid person that guy is, making such a decission to do that.
RailfanDaniel Says:
May 15, 2010 - @nf1002 The conductor said the approach signal. If you look very closely, it is the approach (north) signal. He looks so stupid hanging off the signal like that, haha.
nf1002 Says:
May 17, 2010 - Sorry, railfandaniel, you are right about the signal head on the south side signal that I thought was a person. Agreed, not very smart of him to be on a signal tower.
. . . . . . . because these video appear directly from youtube.com which we cannot control it.)

Mar 8, 2010 - Great video, Daniel. Whoever was on top of the signals was a retard.
